Calling all Burlington teen writers!

Do you love to write poetry or short stories? Are you a Burlington student in grades 7-12?

Show off your love for writing by entering Burlington Public Library’s annual writing contest, Take Flight and Write! For contest details and the official entry form, visit your local library branch or download it here. Submissions accepted June 1 to July 31.

Each year, young writers boldly tackle themes that run the gamut of human experience: love, war, relationship, sexuality, hate, relocation, isolation, poverty, illness, death, to name a few. Don’t feel limited to these themes, though; write about whatever you like!

This contest is an amazing opportunity for young writers. You will receive feedback on your stories and poems from contest judges – who are local published authors themselves – and you might even win a cash prize!

Hayden’s first attempt at Co-Ed Volleyball  led them to St Catharines after only 3 days of practice.  The team fared well playing against some of the better teams in the Niagara and Guelph areas in both girls and boys.  After losing the first set during playoffs, the team bulldozed through pushing every match to 3 sets! When the dust settled, our Huskies ended up winning the entire tournament!  Ms. Beltran said everyone had lots of fun, and she was especially proud of the “great defense by the boys and great offense and blocking by the girls”! Way to go Huskies!!
